We are seeking an experienced and reliable Cook to help lead our Kitchen team.

We are looking for someone who is available on a casual or roster basis, preferably for an immediate start. We are open Wednesday through Friday, from 11am to 9pm, and Saturday from 4pm to 9pm (except for monthly Market Day Saturdays where we are open from 11am to 9pm). Ideally, we’re looking for someone who can commit around 15 to 30 hours per week.

  • Assisting in menu design and recipe development;
  • Bulk cooking in accordance with recipes;
  • Cleaning and organisation of kitchen and food storage areas;
  • Maintaining high standards of kitchen hygiene and food safety;
  • Supervising junior kitchen staff and volunteers;
  • Managing inventory, preparing orders, and reviewing and unpacking deliveries; and
  • Collaborating with leadership to shape Polonia’s kitchen culture and implement effective processes and systems.

Key considerations:

  • Must be reliable, hard-working, and able to work in a fast-paced environment.
  • Experience in cooking Polish or Eastern European cuisine will be highly regarded but is not essential.
  • Polish language skills will be highly regarded but are not essential.
  • Must be committed to food safety and HACCP compliance, and possess (or be willing to obtain) the relevant food safety certifications.
  • Small team environment of up to 5 staff/volunteers.
  • Pay rate depends on experience and will be in line with pay rates set by the Registered and Licensed Clubs Award.

What’s in it for you:

  • Caring and supportive environment where staff input is valued.
  • Perfect opportunity to develop your interest in, or connection to, Poland and its culture.
  • Your efforts go towards fulfilling a charitable mission rather than enriching someone’s private business.
  • Opportunity to interact with a highly accomplished management committee with international experience and connections.

If you have experience in hospitality, a commitment to teamwork, and a positive, collaborative and community-minded attitude, then we invite you to make your application by emailing [email protected] with a copy of your CV.
