Polish concert pianist Zofia Lalak will visit Australia in July and perform two recitals at Lucas Parklands, her only concerts whilst in Australia.
Enjoy Chopin being performed by a Polish artist and perhaps spend a little time with her after the performance.
Below is an extract from an article published in our local newspaper, The Sunshine Valley Gazette.
Lucas Parklands concert remembers Chopin’s death.
Montville’s premier classical music venue Lucas Parklands is hosting Polish concert pianist Zofia Lalak, who will perform two recitals in mid-July her only performances whilst in Australia.
To commemorate the 170th anniversary of Fredrick Chopin’s death, Zofia’s concert will feature Chopin rarities and dedications to Chopin – the most lyrical of all musical poets.
Zofia’s program includes her favourite romantic piano works:
Beethoven: Sonata No. 30 Op. 109, composed when Chopin was 10 and made prominent by Chopin’s good friend Franz Liszt.
Rachmaninoff: a selection of his Preludes, written in the style of Chopin's preludes to be performed as part of the Chopin dedication.
Selected by Zofia, Chopin's Polish songs are beautifully transcribed for piano by Liszt and rarely performed. These songs combine Chopin's melodic gifts with Liszt's elegant pianism and are presented to celebrate Chopin's musical poetry.
Described as one of the top two or three performance venues of its size in the world, the 150 seat acoustically brilliant Lucas Parklands auditorium was designed by Ian Lucas.
The room is set amongst the beauty and peace of undisturbed rainforest. Soft lighting and large windows provide a lush green and natural backdrop for both performers and audience
